First Fresh Dataset Pilot

Get one real dataset fresh before the meeting.

Bring one source and the business question you need Power BI to answer. Michael works through the setup with you, and the pilot succeeds when Power BI confirms the first refresh before the meeting you chose.

Apply for the guided pilot One source · one dataset · one scheduled run

Free to apply. No account, no card. Applying starts a conversation, not a project.

If we agree it is a fit, the guided setup runs inside the standard 14-day Workspace trial: Stripe collects a card at checkout, nothing is charged until the trial ends, and you keep it for $149/month or cancel before then and pay nothing.

Tell us what needs to be fresh

Tell us what needs to be fresh in Power BI and when you need it. Michael will reply with a fit check and the next step within one business day.

Goes straight to michael@themadbotter.com. No sales sequence, no spam.

A tightly scoped first win

The pilot is for proving the full data path, not turning a first call into an open-ended implementation.

1

Confirm the fit

We agree on the source, one business question, the Power BI destination, and the meeting that defines the deadline.

2

Build it together

In a single scheduled working session we connect the source, review Alice's proposed transformation, sign in to Microsoft, and create one scheduled dataset.

3

Verify the refresh

Power BI must confirm a successful refresh. Then we stay available for 14 days while you observe the agreed operating routine.

What a good fit looks like

One usable source

PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Amazon S3, or a CSV, TSV, text, or XLSX export up to 200 MB. File-based runs use the latest file you replace.

One business question

A concrete result such as revenue by region, job cost by project, or inventory by location.

Authorized Power BI access

A Microsoft sign-in with access to the Power BI workspace where Alice should create and refresh the dataset.

Missing one of these, or not sure who owns your Power BI workspace? Apply anyway. Sorting that out is what the fit check is for, and it costs you nothing.

Michael Dominick

Your pilot is guided by Michael Dominick

Founder of The Mad Botter Inc., with more than twenty years of experience building operational systems and data integrations for businesses that run on them. Also the host of Coder Radio, if that is how you found us.

You work through the setup with the person who built Alice, not a sales team and not a handoff.

Clear edges make the pilot useful

Included

One source or representative export, one approved transformation, one Power BI dataset, one schedule, and a data-flow walkthrough.

Not included

Dashboard visual design, a real-time streaming system, a broad data-platform migration, or an unlimited set of sources and reports.

Source not listed?

Use a representative export for the pilot. We will scope a direct connector separately instead of pretending it already exists.

Guided setup uses the same published trial and price as self-serve. See Workspace pricing.

Pilot questions, answered straight

Does applying commit us to anything?

No. The fit check comes first, and plenty of applications end with "not a fit yet." No account is created and no card is collected until you decide to proceed.

How much of our time does it take?

An asynchronous fit check, then one scheduled working session to build and verify the dataset together. The 14-day observation after that is your normal routine, not extra meetings.

What access do you need?

Read access to the one source, or a representative export up to 200 MB, and a Microsoft sign-in with rights to the target Power BI workspace. Credentials are entered in the product, never in email or notes.

What if the pilot fails?

If Power BI never confirms the refresh, we stop and rescope rather than improvise, and you can cancel inside the trial and pay nothing. The tight scope exists so we do not start pilots that cannot succeed.

Is our data safe?

Results live in storage you control or an isolated managed container, and you review the generated SQL and a real-data preview before anything is applied. The security and data-flow page covers the full path.

What happens after the 14 days?

The schedule keeps running on the Workspace plan at $149/month, and you can cancel whenever it stops earning its keep. Nothing is charged before the trial ends.

Bring one source and one Power BI question.

We will get the first scheduled refresh verified before your next meeting.
